All real estate industry member registrations expire on September 30 each year. To remain authorized to trade in real estate, all real estate industry members must renew their registration on or before September 30. Brokers are responsible for using the RECA Online system to ensure all industry members registered with their brokerage are renewed on or before the September 30 deadline.
Each August, all real estate brokerages receive a renewal package from RECA that is sent by email to the email address for the brokerage that is on file with RECA. The package includes detailed instructions on how to process renewals online using the RECA Online system and any other relevant information.
Using RECA Online, the broker can print auto-populated forms for each individual industry member registered with the brokerage. The auto-populated forms include the industry member’s personal information as it is on file in RECA’s licensing database. The industry member is to review their personal information and verify it is complete and update any information that is not correct, including the industry member’s email address. Industry member email addresses are very important to keep updated as this is RECA’s primary method of communication with industry members.
Industry members must truthfully answer the questions in the suitability section of the application form. At the time of renewal, the questions are limited to the timeframe since the applicant’s last date of application. The industry member must then complete the affidavit section of the application before a commissionaire, notary or lawyer, and provide the completed application to their broker.
If an industry member has an affirmative response to a question in the suitability section of the application form, he or she is required to provide additional information to RECA with respect to the issue at hand. The brokerage cannot process an application if there is an affirmative answer in the suitability section of the application form.
The brokerage cannot process an application if there are changes to the industry member’s personal information (i.e. name, date of birth). Changes to the contact information can be updated through the online renewal process.
NOTE: in some years, industry members are required to complete education as part of RECA’s Re-licensing Education Program prior to renewing their registration. More information about REP is available here.
Annual licensing fees are set by Council at its summer budget meeting and are posted on the RECA website as soon as they are approved. For a current fee schedule, please click here. |
