Once an individual has joined a professional appraisal association as a candidate member, he or she must complete the educational and examination requirements or other qualifications, if any, prescribed, adopted or approved by the appraiser association in order to obtain an appraiser category of licence within the timeframe prescribed by the respective appraiser association. Once a candidate is a full and active appraiser member of one of the three appraisal associations, he or she must make application to RECA for a designation change.
In order for the individual’s RECA-issued licence to reflect their designation change from that of candidate to appraiser, the individual must provide the following items to RECA:
- An original letter of good standing sent directly from the industry member's professional association to RECA;
- A completed Real Estate Appraiser/Candidate Licence Application indicating “Appraiser” as the class of licence;
- Any additional or relevant documentation to support a "Yes" answer(s) (if applicable) in Section C of the licence application form; and,
- A $50 processing fee (payment through the RECA Online licensing system or by cheque).
Once RECA has received the above items, it will process the designation change and advise the appraiser once it has been processed.
Real estate appraisers can confirm that their licence class has been changed through the “Search for an Industry Member” function on RECA’s website by searching their own name. Their new class of licence (that of appraiser) will appear in the appropriate box. |
